MapasLab team members Sofía Galván and Marta Matamala-Pagès participated in the conference, sharing their latest research.

Sofía Galván studies the impacts of deep-time climate change on species diversity. Her research highlights how the fossil record can reveal latitudinal biodiversity gradients and the crucial role of future paleontologists in uncovering these patterns in modern mammals.

Marta Matamala-Pagès investigates the role of climate in hominid evolution. Her study reveals that the Ethiopian Highlands remained a stable climatic refuge for at least 2 million years, potentially influencing the emergence, distribution, and adaptations of Homo erectus populations.
